The Logo of Assam Society of New Zealand – Its Meaning

Assam Society of New Zealand’s Executive Committee accepted the above as the organisation’s logo.
Showgato Chakraborty, a passionate member of our Society, conceived and designed it. Below, in his own words, is the logo’s meaning.
The logo is a combination of the Assamese “pepa” (a wind instrument made from buffalo horn) and “Assam Tea leaves” to give an optical illusion of New Zealand’s “silver fern”.

It portrays the spirit of Assam as well as Aotearoa through the endemic icons representing new beginnings, positivity and freshness.

The logo is an ode to the adaptability and dexterity of the Assamese community in New Zealand, in maintaining their native culture and heritage while undergoing the metamorphosis that takes place during changes in life.

It represents the strength it takes to create “something new in the unknown”, an amalgamation of belief, respect, love and culture.

The logo represents the spirit and strength of Assam Society of New Zealand, in not sacrificing core belief but rather believing that we all can be a part of the whole.
